Welcome to GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection)!!!

As we in India move to EURO 6, it is imperative that we will shift from port injection to GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection). It is important as a consumer to have a clear understanding of the system that now you are going to be dealing with. This is a NON-TOLERANT system whereby you have to be ABSOLUTELY sure about the Octane requirements specified by your manufacturer. Lower Octane fuels will cause detonations, misfires, choked injector and a host of other problems. The ususal "CHALTA HAI"  attitude of the customer and the technician are going to result in CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGES. The consumer must be well aware about the engine oils that have to be used in these systems and should be low on the VOLATILITY INDEX. Failure to do so will result in excessive carbon build-up behind the intake valves and will result in POOR PERFORMANCE and further damages to your injectors.

Please note that these injectors work on minimum 150 bars as compared to port injectors which works on 6-7 bars. The testing and cleaning method used for cleaning port injectors is no longer applicable to these injectors. Till date there is NOT a SINGLE GDI INJECTOR TEST FACILITY in INDIA.

Please check with your local technician whether he is properly TRAINED and EQUIPPED to handle these systems. Furthermore these systems usually come with forced induction i.e they will be usually fitted with a TURBO CHARGER. That's another PAIN!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Impact of EURO 6 DIESEL FUELS on EURO 4 and older CARs!!!

The Car owners need to be very wary when they fuel their EURO 4 Diesel cars with EURO 6 Diesel as the lubrication of diesel injectors and high pressure fuel pumps will not be adequate as the sulfur content has been reduced to one fifth.

Although much has been said by the so called tech Gurus on youtube and social media that EURO 6 fuel will not have an impact at all on a EURO 4 compliant Diesel vehicle, sadly this is far from the truth. If these Tech Gurus are to be believed then why should maruti and other players stop the trusted 1.3 liter Fiat sourced engine that had been in use for numerous years?

The truth is the fuel delivery system used in EURO 4 / BS 4 compliant diesel engine cannot handle the extra low sulfur diesel as the injectors will not get lubricated and they will eventually fail. Its like an injector running on a dry surface. There is going to be nozzle failures, pintle needle faliures and other internal component failures. The only possible way that can some what salvage the situation is by using extremely high quality nitrogen based additives which will keep the emissions under control and protect and lubricate the fuel delivery system.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!
