Impact of EURO 6 DIESEL FUELS on EURO 4 and older CARs!!!

The Car owners need to be very wary when they fuel their EURO 4 Diesel cars with EURO 6 Diesel as the lubrication of diesel injectors and high pressure fuel pumps will not be adequate as the sulfur content has been reduced to one fifth.

Although much has been said by the so called tech Gurus on youtube and social media that EURO 6 fuel will not have an impact at all on a EURO 4 compliant Diesel vehicle, sadly this is far from the truth. If these Tech Gurus are to be believed then why should maruti and other players stop the trusted 1.3 liter Fiat sourced engine that had been in use for numerous years?

The truth is the fuel delivery system used in EURO 4 / BS 4 compliant diesel engine cannot handle the extra low sulfur diesel as the injectors will not get lubricated and they will eventually fail. Its like an injector running on a dry surface. There is going to be nozzle failures, pintle needle faliures and other internal component failures. The only possible way that can some what salvage the situation is by using extremely high quality nitrogen based additives which will keep the emissions under control and protect and lubricate the fuel delivery system.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

  4. Amit ji first of all this is really informative, till this time I was thinking that the euro4 car can use bs6 fuel for diesel cars, I have to analyse critically once again to reach for a new thing.
    What about petrol cars.

    1. Dear Anoop, thankyou so much and I would like to add that your concern about diesel cars is absolutely legitimate as the EURO 6 Diesel is going to create huge problems for EURO 4 Diesel Cars. However, coming to petrol cars, EURO 6 fuel will have a very limited impact because in petrol we are looking at GDI in EURO 6 and for GDI we would require a higher octane level as the compression ratios will be higher. The higher compression ratios can easily be met in a petrol engine by using octane boosters, lower ash engine oils and nitrogen based additives.
However, with diesels its going to be a long and a sad story!!!
